MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The bond for a Meridian murder suspect, Kenny Hopson, was reduced Monday. Hopson is being charged in the May 14th murder of Jardarious Lewis.
His bond was originally set at $750,000 but after a preliminary hearing Monday, it's now set at $500,000.
Judge Robbie Jones said Hopson turned himself in to authorities and has no prior criminal history. Jones says Hopson's cooperation allowed his bond to be lowered.
"It seemed pretty evident he was a potential suspect in the shooting," Judge Jones said. "He's a local resident with no prior history that did, in fact, turn himself in, therefore his bond was reduced."
Mario Craig is also charged with killing Jardarious Lewis. Craig is expected to return to court Thursday.
