BUTLER, Ala. (WTOK) - You don't have to wait until Black Friday to do your Christmas shopping in Choctaw County! Several, small mom and pop businesses in butler are kicking off the shopping season Thursday night!
It's all part of the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerces' Annual Late Night Shopping event.
Chamber Executive Director Nick Harrell says this is an event the entire community looks forward to every year
"It goes a long way in bringing the community together, you know you can come out, you can bring your kids, your loved ones out for one night of fun. Hit all your shops up, and just have a good ole fashion fun time with your family,” says Harrell.
One of the participating businesses is a local boutique called Mulberry Bleu. The staff says they expect a lot of customers out looking for that perfect holiday gift including clothes, accessories and sweet treats.
"We had a great turn out at our grand opening so we're expecting the same thing for tomorrow's late night shopping. We'll also have our famous fresh caramel cakes that we will be serving, and we're really excited about it those are our number one sellers so everyone needs to come in and try a piece,” says Anna Kate Coody, an employee at the boutique.
Harrell says the late night shopping event provides an additional, much needed economic boost for Choctaw County and brings in customers from across the region.
"This is our kickoff to the holiday shopping season. We not only try to bring people from Choctaw County but we try to bring people from outside the county to come in and discover what we have to offer. Something unique something different that you're not going to find anywhere else."
Butler's Annual Late Night Shopping and Open Houses runs tomorrow night from 5 to 8 p.m.
