Campaign to include medical marijuana on 2020 ballot visits Meridian
A representative from the campaign to put medical marijuana on the 2020 ballot was in Meridian Wednesday to speak about the campaign's goals.
Jamie Grantham spoke at the Meridian Rotary Club about the need for access, through a licensed medical physician, to medical marijuana for people with debilitating medical conditions. Thirty-four other states have already approved medical marijuana, and studies have shown an improved quality of life for patients with several medical conditions.
Grantham said, "We're trying have conversations all over the state with everybody in Mississippi. This is for Mississippi. It's a medical marijuana program for the people in Mississippi. The program here in Mississippi is going to be regulated per Mississippi's patients through the Department of Health."
Grantham stressed this campaign to include medical marijuana on the 2020 ballot is not about recreational use of marijuana.
