MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Members of the Royal Canadian Air Force demonstration team called the ‘Snowbirds’ landed in Meridian Tuesday morning.

The team was stopping in the Queen City to refuel on their way to do a practice in Peachtree City, Georgia. The Snowbirds perform air shows which help demonstrate their skill, professionalism, and teamwork. Their next show is May 25th and 26th in Latrobe, Pennsylvania before heading back to perform shows in Canada starting June 1st.

“We started off the beginning of our season in the U.S. just due to the better weather that’s going on right now; we can get some cold days up in Canada and it really gives us an opportunity to come down and visit our American cousins and show them, highlight, and demonstrate what we do as a team,” says Major Denis Bandet, team lead for the Snowbirds.

The Snowbirds perform about 60 shows per year across North America. The group has been active since the early 1970s.
