One person was shot after a homeowner found him and two others breaking into their vehicle over the weekend.

It happened in the 8800 block of Hillview Drive. Chief deputy Ward Calhoun says homeowners looked out to see three black men looking into the owner’s car.

The men left before a deputy arrived. Calhoun says guns were stolen out of the victim’s car. While Deputies were at the home, deputies heard multiple gunshots down the road. He says a second resident heard noise and came out to find people in his car. The homeowner exchanged gunfire with the suspects before they left.

“An individual came in with a gunshot wound consistent with what the homeowner. Investigators responded to the emergency room. The case is still open and being investigated, so no charges have been filed yet,” Calhoun says.

Calhoun is encouraging people to not leave things like guns and other valuables inside of your unoccupied car or truck.
