MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - One man stepped up Monday, announcing his candidacy for Circuit Court judge.

Robert "Bo" Bailey announced he hopes to follow in his father's footsteps and become circuit judge of the 10th Circuit District. Bailey has been practicing law for 12 years, and he believes that experience will set him apart from other candidates and help him provide stability on the bench.

"I believe I have the right experience, the integrity and temperament to serve this district and the people of this district," he says.

Bailey says he hopes to continue the legacy of other great men who served in this role, like his father, who served as Circuit Court judge for 27 years.

"A good friend of mine, Justin Cobb, passed away last year. He was Circuit Court judge and he was my judge. I would've much rather have been an attorney going before him," he says. "But I would love to be able to follow in his footsteps and my father's footsteps and represent this district."

The 10th Circuit District serves Clarke, Kemper, Wayne and Lauderdale counties.
