MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - During Tuesday’s city council work session, one of the topics the council members focused on was funding for the Mississippi Children’s
The city pledged a million dollars for the museum over a ten year period. The city has given about half a million so far.
The museum's executive director Liz Wilson asked the council for funding to cover construction expenses.
Mayor Percy Bland says there should be money allotted that can be discussed at the next regular meeting of the council.
"The bottom line is there was no money put in the budget for the Children's Museum this year. She came to request some funding,” said Mayor Percy Bland. “I think she had the vote for $75,000 maybe at the next council meeting. I think that's what the plan is to go forward with."
Bland said the museum is expected to be completed next year.
