MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Downtown Optimist Club made donations to five charities that serve the needs of local children.
The club raises money throughout the year, including its long-running Pancake Jubilee, to raise money for charitable causes.
The club's motto is "Friend of Youth".
"And certainly Christmas season is a time that a lot of children are forgotten. And that's a time that is really important for we all to focus on, on those potentially forgotten children," said club president Lee Thaggard. "So we're so happy to be able to do that."
The Meridian Police Benevolent Association's Shop with a Cop, Cans for Kids, Salvation Army Angel Tree, Harley Davidson Toy Ride and Little Men all received a $1,000 donation from the Downtown Optimist Club.
