CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK)- Clarke County community members gathered together Saturday in Quitman to discuss a number of hot topics including criminal justice, civil engagement and bullying. Organizers of the forum say their goal is to educate the community on new tactics to increase voter turnout and to put an end to school bullying.
"It’s always important to keep people informed and educated about the issues they care about. As well as increase levels of engagement and move people to the polls, so their voice can be heard. Events like this are always important to keep people informed and educated about issues that are relevant to the community," says organizer Matthew Campbell.
The event had many speakers, including Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp and Troy Smith, the Republican nominee for House District 84.
