'Community Resource Fair' held Wednesday

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Students at Meridian Community College had the opportunity to connect with local organizations in our area Wednesday morning.

“We are having the 2019 Fall Semester Community Resource Fair for all students to let them know what different resources are available for them here in the Meridian area and surrounding counties,” says Devario Ezell, the college navigator at MCC.

Around 20 different organizations were represented

“There’s a lot of community service organizations here and we have a couple of banks, we have just different organizations that promote health, promote well-being, or counseling,” Ezell says. “Anything that students may need to help them be successful here at MCC.”

Organizers say the fair is a good learning experience for the students.

“I got the chance to talk to a few students,” Ezell says. “A lot of students are very thankful and appreciative as far as this event goes because they learned a lot of information they didn’t know that was available to them in the community.”

Organizers also say this fair will help students in all aspects of their college career.

“It’s very important to have an event like this because a lot of students will now know what’s available to them as far as to help them be successful in their academics, they’re well-being, and different things like that,” Ezell explains.
