MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -- But did you know that the Mississippi Delta is well-known for serving up some of the best tamales in all the land? We feature one local business on County Road 11.

After retiring from 32 years of driving a tour bus, Lou "Cowboy" Woodfork was looking for something to do in his spare time. He started selling tamales out of a bag to just one customer in his hometown of Indianola, Mississippi.
From there, Cowboy's business grew to vending trailers and campers and appearances in Meridian at Earth's Bounty. A few months ago, he found someone in Meridian with a perfect building and location for his business and he's been dishing up his specialty ever since.
"We didn't change anything about it. It's the old-fashioned flavor and everything and that's what everybody is looking for," said Woodfork. "We've got that old-fashioned tamale. It will take you back 30 years when you taste it."
In his spare time, Cowboy still plays drums and a little guitar in a blues band. He says he comes by it naturally as he hails from the same hometown of Mississippi blues legend B.B. King--someone he's even shared the stage with a few times.
"I play my blues and play a little rock," said Woodfork. "Whatever I feel that day, that's what I do, because I get a chance to play it at least twice a day, so that's what I do."
"They're the old-fashioned Mississippi Delta tamales. The type that grandma and them used to make and everything," said Woodfork. "Don't nobody make them like that anymore."
"It smells so good man I can't wait to get my teeth in these things," said a customer. "I'll eat the whole thing by myself really."
