County employee charged with embezzlement
A Lauderdale County employee has been arrested and charged for embezzlement.
Jerry Morgan has been charged with one count of embezzlement after officials say it was discovered he was misusing a fuel card for the County. Authorities say Morgan stole around $237,000 in diesel fuel over a two year period.
Supervisor Jonathan Wells says the County will not put up with this type of behavior.
“We will not tolerate that. I want everyone that works for the County to realize that if you’re doing something like that, eventually you are going to get caught. We’ve tasked our road manager, county administrator and our purchasing clerk to come up with new procedures,” District 1 Supervisor Jonathan Wells says.
Morgan’s bond has been set at $10,000.
