LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - It was around 8:45 p.m. when the last precinct box made it to the Lauderdale County Courthouse Tuesday.

The night went much more smoothly than Tuesday three weeks ago when it took until 12:45 a.m. to have the results.

In the runoff election between Craig Houston and Loretta "Lolo Allen" Bennett, Houston came out on top with 595 votes to Bennett's 370.

The winner of this Lauderdale County District 2 Supervisor spot will go on to face off against incumbent Wayman Newell in November’s general election. We spoke with Houston about this campaign and today’s runoff results.

“I would just like to ask everyone that didn’t support me, I humbly ask for your support. Without you guys, we cannot do it. We cannot make a change. This is a ‘we thing’, not a ‘me thing’. In order to move forward we need everybody’s help,” Houston says.

Houston will face off against Wayman Newell who has been in the District 2 spot since 2007 when he defeated Jimmie Smith for the position.
