DNA results confirm the body of a small child found in the basement of a Meridian home last month is that of Jaki Toole
Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said his office received the DNA results from the State Crime Lab in Jackson Monday morning.
Jaki Toole’s body was found wrapped in sealed garbage bags in the basement of a house on Crabapple Drive on September 11th. Celeste Smith, who police say was Jaki’s caretaker, was charged with capital murder.
Cobler says Jaki’s murder has been a difficult case to work on.
"Of course anytime you have children, it ranks way up there but just the crime of trying to hide the body also, it’s pretty bad itself," said Cobler.
Jaki's mother, Teasia Warren, was charged with child neglect in the case.
