JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Trustees are setting a March 1 deadline for applications to become president of Alcorn State University, with the goal of choosing a new leader in April.
Applications should be submitted to Parker Executive Search, the firm the board is using to screen applicants
The College Board says members of a campus search advisory committee will examine applicants and suggest at least five names to a five-member trustee committee.
Trustees will choose which candidates are interviewed, with the goal of naming one preferred candidate. The board says it hopes the candidate could visit campus for a series of interviews in April.
Al Rankins Jr., Alcorn's previous president, became higher education commissioner July 1, overseeing the state's eight public universities. The historically black institution has 3,800 students.
