MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Lauderdale County sheriff's deputies made an arrest just after an armed robbery in Meridian Friday night.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says deputies were patrolling the area and got out with a person walking near 65th Avenue, not far from the Queen City Truck Stop. Calhoun says the person happened to have an active warrant for armed robbery out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

That man was arrested and is awaiting extradition.
