SCOTT COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - A Scott County family believes a body found in a burned car may be a missing loved one.

Vickey Turner fought back tears as she talked about her niece, 32-year-old Latasha Patrick Johnson. She says Johnson dropped off her kids at school Monday and has not be seen since.

The remains have been sent to the medical examiner's lab so that the victim's DNA can be tested.

Turner says the car matches the one her niece was driving when she went missing.

"Her brother had called my mom and he couldn't get in touch with her and asked would I call her and see if she would answer the phone. I called and texted her and she wouldn't answer me," said Turner.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee says he understands the family concerns and admits there could be a connection, but says it's too early to make that determination.
