Fireworks sales set to pick up in upcoming days
Tate's Fireworks is wanting to make sure you are able to start the New Year off with a bang.
Owner Jeff Tate says fireworks sales are expected to skyrocket over the next two days.
"As it is with every season, with fireworks sales it's a last minute purchase. We have really gotten lucky with all the rain that we've had, because now we don't have to worry about catching the yard on fire,” says Tate.
Tate's Fireworks has been in business since 2015. A second location just recently opened in Collinsville. Tate says that store has been a big hit so far.
"It's been a great turnout. Better than we expected. I am very well pleased with the turnout and I want to thank everyone who has come and shopped with us,” mentions Tate.
The 'All In' display firework has been flying of the shelves according to Tate. Customers share their favorite part of firework shopping.
"My favorite ones to get are the torpedo fireworks because you can light those in the water,” says Taylor Clark.
“I think it's a really nice store. They have a buy one get one free table right over there. They have a huge selection of fireworks and a friendly staff. It's well located and easy to get to,” says Daniel Bihn.
Tate says he loves seeing the looks on kids’ faces when they walk in and see the array of fireworks to choose from.
"The little kids come in and their eyes light up, they don't even know what they are looking at. They don't know what they are picking up, they just have to have their hands on everything. It doesn't take but a minute for the parents to come in with them for them to be just like children on Christmas morning. They start to see on the TV monitors what these things can do, and they really do get a good joy out of it,” explains Tate.
Here are some important safety tips for firing fireworks: do not wear loose fit clothing, wear protective eye wear and never try to relight a firework.
