DE KALB, Miss. (WTOK) - A former sheriff of Kemper County was laid to rest on Thursday.
Sam Tisdale's celebration of life was held Thursday at The New Hope Church in Dekalb. Members of law enforcement led the funeral procession after the service. Tisdale was the first African American to be elected sheriff in Kemper County in 19-99. Tisdale passed away on August 16th due to a stroke. He was 66 years old.
