Former pastor sentenced for sex crime

A former pastor has been sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Christopher Beam pleaded guilty Monday in Wayne County to lustful touching and exploitation of a child.

He was sentenced to 30 years in jail with 25 years suspended.

Beam was the pastor of the Evergreen Baptist Church in Shubuta.

Investigators say Beam was a substitute teacher and bus driver at Beat 4 School in Wayne County in January 2016 when the crime happened.
