MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Pop-up storms continue to develop sparingly across East Mississippi this afternoon. Showers and storms disperse as we get closer to this evening and into the night. Overnight lows drop to near 70 degrees while dew points rise to 70 degrees as well. Expect a mild and humid night ahead. Tomorrow we will experience temperatures in the mid 90s through the afternoon once again. Scattered showers and storms are likely to occur any time after noon tomorrow. Lows drop to near 70 degrees. Sunday similar conditions will unfold with highs in the mid 90s. Rain chances will increase slightly in the afternoon and lows will drop into the lower 70s overnight.
All throughout next week a more wide spread rain pattern will set in as the ridging that we are currently under weakens and a shortwave trough pushes through the southeast. Monday showers and storms are likely to be scattered across the twin states. Highs are expected to reach lower 90s and skies will contain a mix of sun and clouds. Tuesday, showers and storms will be seen throughout the day along with mostly cloudy skies. Lows remain in the lower 70s. Wednesday will be another soggy day with showers and storms likely. Highs rise into lower 90s and humidity will continue to stay high.
Thursday showers and storms prevail once again in the afternoon and temperatures remain in the lower 90s. The entire southeast is expected to be moisture heavy going into the end of the week with precipitable water values near 2 in. At this time we could also be on the watch for tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico as conditions continue to be in favor for development. Friday you can expect more clouds than sun for the majority of the day as well as scattered showers and storms. Temperature will continue to be near 90 degrees and lows in the low to mid 70s.
