Friday, November 9 Afternoon Forecast Discussion

Freeze Warning for Winston County until 9am Saturday.
Freeze Watch for Pickens County until 8am Sunday.

Rain showers have been with southern locations through the afternoon hours as our cold front passed and winds have turned from the north. Rain will taper off this evening with skies clearing as cold air pours into the area. Temperatures Saturday morning will be in the middle to upper 30s. Pickens, Winston and Noxubee Counties could flirt with freezing, but winds staying up tonight should keep temperatures from getting to 32.

We are dry on Saturday with temperatures struggling to 50 with another cold night as we wake up in the middle 30s on Sunday. Sunday morning looks most likely for widespread frost across the area. Because of that, make sure you protect any sensitive outdoor plants prior to going to bed Saturday night.

Rain showers will return late Sunday, but these will be stray to isolated in nature. Rain arrives in earnest Monday morning and lasts into early Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of one to two inches are likely as this system passes. This cold front will pull down arctic air for us as we head into the middle of the week.

Lows on Tuesday should stay in the middle 30s as we keep highs in the 40s. Wednesday morning will be the coldest of the next 7 as we should wake up in the middle to upper 20s for our first freeze of the season. We could see another freeze Thursday morning before we start to warm. We return towards 60 for highs on Friday and keep warming into next weekend.
