Gas prices in the state are higher than they were at this time last week, according to www.GasBuddy.com.
The prices at the pumps in Mississippi have increased by 1.8 cents per gallon over the past week to an average of $2.28/gallon. Meanwhile, the average price for gas has declined nationally during the same time.
Experts at GasBuddy say tensions between the United States and Iran could cause gas prices to increase, but the exact effects remain to be seen.
