SUMTER COUNTY, Ala. (WTOK) - The numbers for all the races in Sumter County are in, and the winners are some familiar faces.

Brian Harris retains his position as Sumter County sheriff with his win over Demetrius Thomas. Harris notched 84% of the vote in a huge victory. Terry Peeler defeated Sonya Jemison in another big race to remain coroner of Sumter County. Other contested race winners included Archie Hall in the District 5 Commission seat and Jeanette Brassfield-Payne and Darla Spencer with seats on the Board of Education. We caught up with Sheriff Harris moments after Tuesday night's win.

"It’s a great feeling. It's a great feeling. You know being appointed by the governor is great, but now being elected by the people of your county that you serve is a wonderful feeling. And again I can't stress enough how I appreciate all the citizens for coming out and exercising their right to vote to get me into office," said Sheriff Harris.

Preliminary numbers report more than 50% of the county reported to the polls.
