On Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at approximately 10:30am, Meridian Police arrested 21 years old Patrick Harvey, Jr. for the Armed Robbery of the Citi Trends clothing store located on North Frontage Road. The Citi Trends Armed Robbery occurred on Monday, January 6, 2020 at approximately 6:40pm. Harvey was positively identified as the Armed Robbery suspect by a witness who was on scene at the time of the incident. The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Deputies assisted Meridian Police with Harvey's apprehension. Harvey has a $500,000 bond and is currently being detained at the Lauderdale County Jail awaiting his court appearance scheduled Monday, January 27th at approximately 12:00pm. On Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at approximately 6:45pm, Meridian Police Officers responded to a shooting incident that occurred inside a residence in the 2100 block of 9th Avenue. Upon arrival to the scene, Meridian Police found a 9 year old with a gun shot wound to the head and an 8 year old identified as the shooting suspect. The children were left alone inside the residence without supervision. A firearm was recovered by Meridian Police Detectives and seized as evidence. The 9 year old shooting victim was initially transported to a local hospital and shortly afterwards transported to a Jackson hospital. Meridian Police Detectives will continue to investigate and information will be released as the investigation unfolds. Meridian Police urges the public to secure all firearms properly with locks and especially in homes with children.
