Job fair helps give second chances
It was a day full of opportunity and second chances at the Velma Young Community Center Wednesday.
The Mississippi Re-entry Job Fair hosted numerous employers and other services to help people get back on their feet and to become a productive member of society. Dozens of people turned out to take advantage of this job fair. Councilwoman Fannie Mae Johnson says this is a great way for people to regain their confidence once released.
“Some people may have a history or a hiccup here and there and need a little extra help or an avenue to get jobs. This fair is concentrating a lot on people who may not have a perfect record who really want to work. We want everyone to have a chance to work,” Johnson says.
