LEMA prepares ahead of severe weather threat

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - Lauderdale Emergency Management is preparing for any severe weather that could be headed our way.

Newscenter 11 stopped by LEMA headquarters to check in on preparations. Director John Williamson says the threat level has been decreased. This area has been downgraded from a slight chance for severe weather to a marginal chance.

He says they're not expecting a big impact, but they're taking steps now to get ready, just in case.

"We’re constantly reviewing our emergency response plans, conducting exercises to make sure those plans work. So our preparation is ongoing whether we're under a threat or not," Williamson says.
