MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors held a work session this morning.
At the start of the meeting, the Lauderdale County budget for Fiscal Year 2019 was approved. The budget is balanced and features no tax increases on citizens. Supervisors say they are always looking at ways to improve how the county functions.
“We are always working at implementing better practices and better ways to save money and you know I really admire our county administrator, our county road manager, they are always bringing better business practices to the board to discuss and to decide on,” says district 1 supervisor Jonathan Wells.
One area that received an increase in funding was the county E-911.
“E-911 is going to have to be brought up to some new equipment,” says board president Wayman Newell. “And to me, the most important entity of county government is E-911 because if you have an emergency, you call E-911- they have to be able to respond.”
The next regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting will be Monday, September 17th at 9 a.m.
