LAUDERDALE CO., Miss. (WTOK) - Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department is looking for smart, self-confident workers to make a difference at the jail.
The Lauderdale County Detention Facility is putting on a job fair over the next two days, as they look to fill about eight detention officer positions that are open right now. The jail commander says it's a stressful job that isn't for everyone, but for many, it's very rewarding. It can also open doors to further your career in law enforcement.
"Some people come in here and love it," Maj. Melissa McCarter says. "Some use it to get a foot in the door to try to do something further with their career. It's a learning experience all the way around."
The job fair will go on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility, 2001 5th Street in Meridian. You're invited to stop by and learn more about the job firsthand to see if you want to apply.
