LAUDERDALE CO., Miss. (WTOK) - The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.
K9 Aron died from heat exhaustion Sunday outside the sheriff's department. Sheriff Billy Sollie says Aron's human partner came in to do some reports and left the car running with Aron in the backseat. The car has a warning system that sounds an alarm when the car shuts down, but the sheriff says this time, that alarm failed. Heat built up quickly, and Aron was found dead soon after. K9 Aron had served with the sheriff's department for five years.
