Lauderdale County supervisors are seeking additional funding sources to address courthouse concerns. Members of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History will tour county property in downtown Meridian Friday. The purpose for the tour is to ultimately explore grant options. Board president Josh Todd says he has high hopes for the visit.

"We're going to get their input and see if there are any kinds of grants out there that they may be able to help us go through," says Todd.

In February the head of Eupora based Belinda Stewart Architects presented supervisors with a final comprehensive study about various sites that are being considered for the courthouse. In total, early projections are that it'll cost about $40,000,000 to address all of Lauderdale County's courthouse needs; this includes parking and the jail.
