Local hotel discusses recent theft

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Employees of the Fairfield Inn & Suites on Highway 11 and 80 are looking to identify a man wanted for stealing gas and sleeping in the parking lot of the business.

“We realized last week that someone was sleeping in our parking lot,” Sales Coordinator for Fairfield Inn & Suites Judah Huggins says.

Employees of the Fairfield Inn and suites say they have been recent victims.

“The guy kind of hid next to the lady’s vehicle,” Huggin says.

Huggins says it can all be seen in surveillance camera. She says it started when a white truck shows up. Just a moment later a person can be seen next to an SUV and then under it.

“He kind of ducked down and went underneath her truck, which I didn’t understand because it was by the gas tank,” Huggins says.

Huggins says they don’t ever have problems at the hotel. She says they just want to make sure other businesses are on the lookout.

“It is a very safe spot. We have the police that drive through our hotel parking lot every day,” Huggins says.

Meanwhile, police have been searching for the man in the hat and the white truck.

“Be aware of your surroundings. Know your hotel and don’t be afraid to walk around your hotel property and take a look. Our first job is our guests and we need to protect our guests,” Huggins says.
