WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - A local crop-duster was congratulated for a special award he received several years ago.

Ben Kirk was awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2014. This honor is given out every year to a pilot who has served 50 years in aviation and many other achievements. Kirk is the first person from Mississippi to receive this award. During the Wings over Winston Airshow, Kirk was presented with a House resolution honoring his success.

"To me it's an honor for my industry, the aerospace industry. I'm really proud of it. I appreciate the resolution that our state legislature made to me. It's just a good honor,” says Kirk.

Kirk is also the first full-time crop-duster in the country to have received this award.
