MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Valentine's Day will be here Friday and local restaurants are going all out to set the mood. It's traditionally a very busy time.
"it's going to be a huge night for us. Valentine's Day is a date we always look forward to. Great for business and a lot of people coming in," said Charles Frazier, owner of Weidmann's.
"It's our busiest day of the year. We're going to be packed. We are booked for Thursday through Saturday and we're taking reservations for next week for Valentine's," says Bradley Wright, head server at The Rustler.
Dining and roses are part of the most romantic time of the year, but what are some local restaurants doing to help make it special?
"We do a red velvet cheesecake which is a popular item. We do it one time a year around Valentine's Day. People look forward to that. We also do something special for the ladies, complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries," says Frazier.
"We have a few specials prepared. We're going all week with our specials and maybe even next week. We usually seat about 14 here, but we are planning on getting 18 tables of 2," said Semmes Martain, daughter of owner Mike Partridge.
To set the mood, both restaurants play classical music with dimmed lighting.
"It's not a cookie cutter establishment; we're one of a kind. I think that contributes to a romantic feel," says Frazier.
"I always tell people this is equivalent to our Super Bowl. It's like our Super Bowl of days," says Martain.
The Rustler is extending its special menu into next week.
