MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian Community College hosted its annual Veterans Day program Thursday, the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Veterans were thanked for their sacrifices and service.
This year's guest speaker was st SGT Antonio Marquez, the senior list adviser for Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron 1. He says appreciation can go a long way.
"As veterans we don't look for people to come honor us, but an appreciation of thanks, it goes a long way. Some of these veterans come back with wounds that you can see and some of them have hidden wounds. I think just saying a 'thank you' to anybody who serves, it goes a long way," said Marquez.
In the audience, there was a veteran of World War II who was recognized, along with others who served in all branches of the military.
