MHS on lock-down briefly Wednesday

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian Public School District says the high school was placed on lock-down as a precaution Wednesday afternoon because of an unauthorized visitor on campus.

"We cherish and invite parents and guests to visit our schools, however, it is imperative for any guest to follow proper visiting procedures when coming to our campuses," said superintendent, Dr. Amy Carter. "This allows school officials to ensure we are working diligently to keep our students safe."

The district says campus police and school administration immediately responded and the school returned to its normal schedule once the individual was removed from campus.
