MPD searching for Labor Day hit and run driver

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Edward Donaldson remains unresponsive in surgical intensive care at a Jackson hospital. Donaldson was hit by a car while riding his bicycle on Briarwood Road Monday in Meridian.

The driver didn't stop and left Donaldson battered and bleeding.

Capt. John Griffith said the Meridian Police Department is working to find the driver.

"We do have evidence gone to the crime lab to try to identify what color the vehicle was and a possible make," said Griffith.

Griffith said the driver could face jail time if caught.

"Any time you have an accident with serious injuries and you leave, it's a felony," said Griffith.

Police say they believe the vehicle that hit Donaldson is a reddish-wine color. Investigators encourage anyone who has information about the hit and run to call Meridian police or Crimestoppers at 855-485-8477.
