Man charged after hitting police car

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A man has been charged with aggravated assault after police say he rammed a patrol car. 19-year-old Matthew Spann is accused of the crime.

Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose says officers were called to the report of a man ramming a building with his vehicle. He says when officers got on scene the man decided to ram one of the squad cars.

The incident took place in front of the old bowling alley on North Hills Street. There was no major damage.

Those involved were checked out at a hospital as a precaution.

Bond for Spann was set at $50,000.
