Man shot at his home in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian police are investigating the shooting of a man on 32nd Street.

It happened just after midnight Wednesday at a home in the 6200 block of 32nd street, just off North Hills Street.

Meridian Police Captain John Griffith says the victim was walking his girlfriend to a car that was parked in the driveway when someone started shooting at them.

Police say the victim went inside the house and grabbed a gun and started shooting back at the suspect. The victim was shot in the legs, but is expected to be okay.

The shooter ran off after the confrontation. Police have been talking with the victim to learn more information about why someone would want to shoot him.
