Meridian Christmas parade re-set for Dec. 15

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The city of Meridian has decided to reschedule this year's Christmas parade for a second time.

It's due to the National Weather Service forecasting a strong chance of rain this weekend. The event had already been moved from last Saturday for the same reason.

The parade will now take place Saturday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m.

Director of community development, Laura Carmichael, says she understands people may be disappointed, but says it'll be worth the wait.

"i know it has been frustrating this year. We can never predict the weather and we always try to look," said Carmichael. "Typically the parade's held the first weekend of December but we never can predict what the weather's going to do."

If there's rain forecast again for the 15th, city officials say Monday, Dec. 17 is available as an alternate date, but they're hoping to not have to reschedule a third time.
