MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Meridian Fire Department is looking to add those who serve as the Queen City’s bravest.

The application process is now open for those interested in becoming a firefighter. You have until April 16th to get to the Civil Service office on the first floor of Meridian City Hall. Meridian Fire Department's Deputy Chief Jason Collier says if you are curious if the job would be right for you, you can always get a preview.

"Join your volunteer fire department if you live in the county or are in an area that doesn't have a paid fire department. It's a good way to kind of test the waters of the type of work. It’s not exactly the same, but it's good to a taste for it to see if you like it or not. That’s the way I started out," Collier says.

If you are interested visit the Civil Service Office on the bottom floor of city hall during regular business hours.
