Meridian man shot while trying to break up altercation
there were some frightening moments in a Meridian neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. Meridian police say a man was shot Tuesday afternoon trying to break up an altercation between another man and his estranged girlfriend.
The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 700 block of 45th Avenue.
Capt. John Griffith tells Newscenter 11 Shalan Graham confronted his estranged girlfriend at a residence there and got into a physical altercation with her.
Griffith said Graham then pulled a gun on a man who tried to break up the altercation and fired six shots. One of the rounds hit the victim in the knee.
Police are still searching for Graham, who officials say will be charged with aggravated assault when he's caught.
