Meridian kidnapping suspect behind bars

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A suspect in an October kidnapping case is now behind bars.

After law enforcement received a tip about his location, 22-year-old James Hodges was arrested at a Meridian apartment complex early Friday morning.

Hodges was wanted for the Oct. 21, 2019, armed robbery and kidnapping of a Meridian store owner.

Police say Hodges and his alleged accomplice, 19-year-old Antonio Clay, who is not yet in custody, approached the victim with guns and demanded he get into their vehicle and give them money.

Hodges is being held on $325,000 bond, $200,000 for the armed robbery charge and $125,000 for kidnapping.

Law enforcement says anyone hiding Antonio Clay will be charged. Clay is also wanted in connection with the Bonita Lakes Mall shooting.
