Meridian police investigating two shootings

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- The Meridian Police Department continues to investigate two separate shootings that happened the night before Thanksgiving.

The first shooting happened just before 10:00 p.m. in the 3100 block of Valley Street. Meridian Police Captain John Griffith says several men got into an altercation that ended in shots fired. One person, who wasn't involved in the altercation, was hit.

Less than an hour later, another shooting was reported at a convenience store on Highway 19. The victim was shot in the leg while sitting in his car.
