MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian police have arrested two people for a Tuesday shooting incident that killed one person.

Chief Benny Dubose says Mario Craig and Kenny Hopson were arrested and have been charged with murder after a shooting that took place Tuesday.

The two have been charged in what is being called an ambush against Jardarious Lewis, who was killed when he was shot outside a home on 21st Street. Investigators say the motive was retaliation from a previous altercation between the three men. Judge Robbie Jones had one of the suspects in his courtroom Friday.

“This appears to be one of those acts that’s unjustified. It seems like people are willing to spend years in jail to take their anger out on somebody else,” Jones says.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
