MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- Artists from all over the south came out to compete in Meridian’s first ever Battle of the Bands.
Meridian Underground Music hosted its first Battle of the Bands at the Temple Theater. Nine bands from across the South including Nashville, Natchez, Jackson and New Orleans will be competing for a total of $850 worth of cash prizes in a Battle of the Bands.
Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Care Lodge. The owner of Meridian Underground Music Wayne Williams says this was a great turnout and hopes to turn it into an annual event.
“All the artist are together and playing with original music before all sorts of people. They are from all over the United States, so I am really excited about that. I am really excited for all the different types of people to come together to support the cause at Care Lodge and that is ending domestic violence. And being a part of a bigger purpose,” said Care Lodge Community Coordinator Sara Smith.
“I except we'll be so success and able to give a lot of money to Care Lodge that we will do it again next year,” said owner of Meridian Underground Music Wayne Williams.
This event is sponsored by The Temple Theater, Magnolia Beverage Company, MUM, Graphics Guru, & the Screening Room.
