Meridian's history displayed at 10th costume tour of Rose Hill Cemetery
The Rose Hill Cemetery held its 10th annual costume tour Saturday evening.
The costume tour is held each year to teach the history of the people who are buried in the cemetery. They tell the story through arts and drama but also give a voice to the ones buried at the cemetery. The subject covers Meridian's history that might not be taught in schools.
"We have many children here this year. Students of all ages and that’s been a goal of ours to have as many young people to hear the stories. I really like it. It’s kind of where I grew up here. It reminds me of the stories I heard as a kid and it is just a wonderful way to follow it on the history of Meridian," organizer Anne McKee says.
Rose Hill Cemetery is the resting place of the Gypsy Queen.
