Miss. Highway Patrol asks help from parents this Spring Break

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Spring Break is here for many students across Mississippi, and that means you can expect a lot more traffic.

Mississippi Highway Patrol is warning you to take caution if you plan on traveling this week. With more drivers out on the roads, there's a greater chance for accidents.

Sgt. Andy West says the MHP will be out in full force, working to keep the roads safe, but they're asking parents to help.

"Spring Break, a lot of times they'll have a lot of parties. These kids will be attending these parties, and we're just asking that the parents be involved," Sgt. West says. "Education begins at home with the parents, as we've said before, if it gets to us, it's gone too far."

Both Meridian and Lauderdale County public schools are on Spring Break this week.
