An alert sent to Hawaiian residents Saturday claimed a ballistic missile was heading toward the state.

The report was followed by a disclaimer that ensured the alarm was indeed false and that everyone was safe.

One person from Mississippi was in Hawaii at the time of the false alarm Saturday. The 22 year-old arrived four days ago from Hattiesburg. She says the incident was horrifying.

"It was honestly insane. I woke up and everyone was in a frenzy. Throughout our neighborhood knocking on doors making sure everyone knew. We ended up calling someone who gave us instructions because we didn't know how to prepare for this," Madison Kolbo says.
