MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Severe thunderstorms blew through east Mississippi Friday morning bringing a lot of wind and rain and causing hundreds of residents to lose power. Thankfully, it was only for a short period of time.
Valley Road and the Vimville community experienced the most damage from the storm. The most extensive damage came from a fallen tree on a power line.
Julie Boles with East Mississippi Electric Power Association says about 800 temporarily lost service. It was restored before noon.
"Our crews work year-round clearing those lines to keep outages to a minimum," Boles said.
Storms in the forecast this weekend have forced several State Games events to be rescheduled.
